The Individual Championship for the 2015-16 season is on 20 February. It is hosted by Johns Creek, but will be at Autrey Mill Middle School.

To qualify for the Individual Championship, fencers must have competed in at least three regular season tournaments and earned points in at least one. A fencer’s final season ranking for the season is the place he or she finished in the Championship. The top 8 fencers in each event win medals and the top 32 earn points (which count towards seeding in the Team Championship and the first tournament of next season).

Erin Maurer won silver and Ana Cristian won bronze in the women’s event. Keegan won a medal for 8th place in the men’s event.

Of the 17 Pope fencers who competed, 6 earned points for themselves and their team by finishing in the top 32 of their event. In addition to the medal winners, they were Sydney Higginbotham (9th), Lyndsay Wagner (11th – the highest ever Championship finish for a Pope freshman) and Rebecca Xhajanka (23rd).

It is rare for freshmen to qualify for the Individual Championship, but three Pope freshmen did so this season. In addition to Lyndsay, they were Sara Nelson (40th) and Jett Smith (59th).

The Pope women remain are seeded 1st in the Team Championship, 341 points ahead of Chattahoochee. The men are seeded 9th place, 13 points behind 8th seed Centennial.
