Round 6 will be on 16 December and Pope is competing at North Springs High School (not at Fellowship as originally scheduled).
With only two tournaments in this round, space is in short supply and there was a danger of having to limit the number of fencers that each school could send. As North Springs has room for more strips than Johns Creek, Campbell and Milton have been moved to the North Springs tournament. That move means that all the fencers who have signed up will be able to compete; it also means the North Springs will probably be the largest tournament of the season (including the Championships).
If you have been thinking about trying a private fencing club, now is the time.
Dunwoody Fencing Club (located in Roswell) is offering special introductory rates over the Thanksgiving and Winter Breaks. The offer is open to all GHSFL fencers and their friends who are not already already members of a private club.
Thanksgiving Break: For $25 per fencer, you can attend all sessions from 20 November through 27 November.
Winter Break: For $60 per fencer, you can attend all sessions from 22 December through 6 January. If you buy the Winter Break package before 20 November, you can get the Thanksgiving Break package at half price.
The club practices on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays (but check about holidays). Weekday sessions are 7:15 pm – 9:15 pm, Saturday sessions are 11 am – 1 pm.
Dunwoody Fencing Club’s practice facility is at 735 W Crossville Rd, Roswell, GA 30075. It is the free-standing building between Walgreen’s and Pike’s Nursery (about 500 yards from Roswell High School).
Our next tournament is Round 5 at Roswell on 2 December; that has not changed. However, there have been two recent changes to the tournament schedule that will affect Pope.
In Round 6 on 16 December, Pope was originally schedule to compete at Fellowship. Unfortunately, that tournament has now been cancelled and schools that had been scheduled to compete at Fellowship will instead go to one of the other two tournaments. Pope will now compete at North Springs on 16 December. With only be two tournaments, it is likely that the larger schools (like Pope) will be told to limit the number of fencers who compete.
In Round 7 on 13 January, Pope is scheduled to compete at the tournament hosted by Walton. That hasn’t changed, but Walton’s tournament will be held at Dodgen Middle School.
