Congratulations to Ana Cristian on a great finish in the Senior Division I Women’s Épée event in Richmond this weekend.
After winning gold in the GHSFL event at Roswell on Saturday, she headed out to Virginia for a North American Cup tournament where she competed in the Division I event on Sunday and Monday. This is the highest level competition there is in the United States, and the competitors included three members of the US Women’s Épée squad from the 2016 Olympics. Ana made the cut after the first round of pools on Sunday, then made the cut out of a second round of pools on Monday before losing in the DE round later on Monday and finishing 82nd (out of 130 of the best fencers in the country).
Ana also finished 85th in the same event in the October North American Cup.
Congratulations to all our fencers on another great tournament.
We won four medals. Ana took another gold, Lyndsay, Ellie and Ryan took bronze. That was Ryan’s first medal; also Leo had his first top 8 finish.
Pope women are still in first place and the men are in 6th.
More details are in your e-mail and on the Round 5 Tournament page.
