It’s time to register for the Pope Fencing Club for the 2013/14 season. We hope all of last year’s team (except those who graduated of course) will join us for what could be another championship season.
The club is open to any Pope students with or without fencing experience, and we welcome new members who would like to join what is currently the most successful high school fencing program in Georgia.

Congratulations to the three Pope fencers who competed in Summer Nationals last week in Columbus. Summer Nationals is USA Fencing’s national championship for all events except Cadet and Junior (which were in February) and Senior Division I (which was in April).
Senior Division II
This is the championship for senior fencers (age 13 through adult) rated “C” or lower.
Christi N finished 96th in the Women’s Épée event.
Daniel M finished 129th in the Men’s Épée event.
Senior Division III
This is the championship for senior fencers (age 13 through adult) rated “D” or lower.
Christi N finished 73rd in the Women’s Épée event.
Daniel M finished 106th in the Men’s Épée event.
The Junior (under 19, all ratings) championship was held in February. Last week’s event was a national event where the top 64 fencers are awarded points that decide national rankings.
Katie V R finished 35th in the Women’s Épée event and is currently ranked 70th in the country for Junior Women’s Épée.
Congratulation to Jake W on winning the 2013 Connor Porter Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded by USA Fencing to one male and one female fencer each year (this is the first year). Coach Vail accepted the award on Jake’s behalf at Summer Nationals in Columbus last week.
