All fencers and their families should have received an e-mail with the results. You can also view them in the GHSFL 2010-11 Season section of the website. Here are some highlights.
Chloe won the bronze medal for Pope. She placed third after losing an extremely close (14-15) semi-final to Juliana F of Lassiter. Chloe is the first Pope fencer to medal in every tournament she competed in for a season (1 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze).
Harrison was the highest placed Pope man. He finished 16th after losing a close bout against the eventual champion, John P of Roswell.
6 Pope women had the highest season finish of their career: Chloe (3rd – Pope’s highest finish ever), Christi (32nd – winning a Championship DE bout in her first season), Katey C (37th) , Abbey (39th –in her first season), Leah (51st), Paige (58th –in her first season). 6 Pope men had the highest season finish of their career: Harrison (16th), Nick H (17th), Nick Sh (21st), Jake (31st), Stefan (34th), Aditya (45th).
For each sex, the four schools earning the most points in the Individual Championship qualified for the Team Championship next Saturday. The Pope women and men were both just one win short of making the list, with the women finishing 5th in today’s tournament and the men tied for 6th.
For team rankings, the League will only rank the four schools who qualified for the Team Championship, so Pope will not be ranked. However, In terms of the total number of points earned over the whole season, Pope was 5th overall, with the men 3rd and the women 6th (out of 11 schools).
Well done everyone and congratulation to the entire team on our best season ever!
