The current GHSFL schedule and results are now available. To access them make sure you are logged in (Pope fencers and parents received an e-mail in November with their user name and password – if you need help click on “Contact Us” in the “About Us” menu). Click on GHSFL in the menu and choose the season you want to view (2010-11 or 2009-10).
Update: If you want a blast from the past, the 2008-09 season is now available as well.
You can view the tournament schedule, league rankings, tournament results (either final places or results of every bout) and fencers by school (with rankings and tournament results). The information available for 2008-09 and 2009-10 is not as complete as for 2010-11.
The results will be updated shortly after each tournament and the schedule will be updated as soon as possible after the league announces a change.
Thanks for all the help with yesterday’s tournament at Pope. Several people who have been around the league for years commented on how smoothly it ran. It takes a lot of work by a lot of people to achieve that kind of result. Well done!
Pope had two medal winners in this weekend’s tournament. In the women’s event, Chloe took silver. In the men’s event, Gil took bronze.
Ten of the 28 Pope fencers at the tournament earned points by finishing in the top 12 of their event. In addition to the medal winners they were, for the women, Katey C (earning her first league ranking this year), Alex B and Paige (earning a league ranking in her second tournament ever!), and for the men, Jake, Nick H, Stefan, Nick Sh, and Mike. The league’s top 84 ranked fencers of each sex who have also competed in at least three tournaments will qualify for the Individual Championship on 5 March.
Ten Pope fencers had the best finish of their career; Katey C, Paige and Katie V R for the women; Stefan, Alex S, Stephen, Hayden, Trey, Ryan G and Luben for the men. Also, Gil and Matt D equaled their previous best finish.
Pope earned 304 points in the tournament. The league is not tracking points earned by teams this year; but if they were, Pope would currently be 4th (up from 5th last month).
Check your e-mail for detailed results and league standings.

Just a reminder. The Pope “P” patch goes on the non-weapon arm of your fencing jacket. It should be an inch or two from the shoulder so that it doesn’t impede your arm when you raise it in the classic …Continue reading →
